In short

QR Clair has no account and no server. What you scan or create stays on your phone. The app shows one banner ad provided by Google AdMob, subject to your consent where the law requires it.

Camera

Used only to read codes. Images are analysed on the device; they are neither stored nor sent anywhere.

History and settings

Scanned and created codes (and their favorites) are saved in a local database that is never transmitted. You can turn the history off, delete entries or clear everything, and export it yourself as CSV. Settings are stored locally. Android cloud backups are disabled for the app.

Created images and files

PNG and SVG images are saved or shared only when you ask.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app shows a single banner ad, never on the scan screen or on the result. To show it, Google AdMob may collect and process, depending on your consent choices: the advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP, technical information about the device and app, and interactions with the ad, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. No scanned or created content is transmitted.

Consent

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a consent form (Google UMP) is shown on first launch. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad consent. Without consent, no ad is loaded. You can also reset the advertising ID in Android settings (Google › Ads). Details: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Links opened from a code

Opening a link, address or contact happens in the relevant app (browser, contacts, calendar…), which has its own policy. QR Clair analyses link text locally to warn you if it looks suspicious; no link is sent to any service for checking.

Your rights (GDPR)

Since the app’s data is local, you control it directly (delete it in the app or uninstall). For data processed by Google AdMob, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection and portability with Google. Questions: oliviertheandroidmaker@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.
